Ipswich Town FC Women vs Cambridge United WFC

Sunday saw the commentary come from the Suffolk coast as Felixstowe was the destination for our commentary. Having last played on 27th October a tough task awaited the Lady U’s on their first game back, a trip to unbeaten league leaders Ipswich Town FC Women.  A dominant display saw the hosts win 5-0, although at 2-0 down, Cambridge had a chance to go in at half time just one goal behind, but Kelley Blanchflower saw her penalty saved by debutant keeper Lucy Williamson after Vicky Lines had been brought down in the area.

With several players unavailable, Ben Yeomans had to shuffle his pack, and the team worked hard, fighting a defensive rearguard action, but did manage to cause the odd flutter to the home side, especially when Faith Hewitt’s shot rattled the crossbar in the second half.

I would like to thank host ground Felixstowe & Walton United FC and Ipswich Town FC Women for their help today in getting the broadcast to air.
